February 7 – James Spader, actor
Boston native James Spader is known for being something of a bad guy—on screen, of course. He got his start in Pretty in Pink (1986) and Less Than Zero (1987). His performance in Steven Soderbergh's Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989) earned him his breakout role and the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Fans of the American version of The Office will recognize Spader as the overly-intense Robert California. Producers wrote his character for the season seven finale, but California ended up becoming a season eight regular. Thanks to Spader’s performance, "Those two scenes became a season,” executive producer Paul Lieberstein said.
Spader played the robot Ultron, a major villain, in Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). As he turns 65, Spader is probably busy as he’s preparing to reprise the role of Ultron in Vision Quest, a sequel expected from Marvel in 2026.

February 16 – Lucy Kaplansky, folk musician
Lucy Kaplansky started singing from a young age and became known for her graceful harmonies. According to the New York Times, it was “easy to predict stardom for her.” Then, she dropped music and became a successful psychologist for over a decade.
But in the 1990s, music called her back. She agreed to record an album with her former singing partner, Shawn Colvin. It was a hit, and Kaplansky signed with Red House Records. She went on to release more than ten solo albums and six collaborations, including the hit Cry Cry Cry (1998) with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell. These days, Kaplansky is on the road. According to her website, she has dozens of shows booked in 2025 and performs multiple times a week. Her latest album, The Lucy Story, features rare and unreleased tracks from her career spanning 1976-2023.

January 20 - Tony Robbins, motivational speaker, author
Leap Day baby Tony Robbins was born in North Hollywood, so perhaps he was meant to take to the stage. His path to motivational speaking began when, at age 17, he worked promoting the seminars of the motivational speaker Jim Rohn. (One of Rohn’s popular books had the straight-to-the-point title How to Obtain Wealth and Happiness.) Robbins’ numerous motivational books include Unlimited Power: The New Science of Personal Achievement (1986), Awaken the Giant Within: How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny! (1991), and his latest title, The Path: Accelerating Your Journey to Financial Freedom (2022). As an individual coach, he’s worked with men from Pitbull to Bill Clinton. Robbins is known for co-hosting Oprah’s Lifeclass on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
He’s also known for firewalking. Firewalking is a participatory part of some of Robbin’s motivational events, where he famously encourages people to walk barefoot over hot coals to practice “mind over matter.” Accenture called Robbins one of the “Top 50 Business Intellectuals in the World.” His philanthropic foundation focuses on food security, global youth leadership, and inmate empowerment.
